Fresh figs are little jewels. Soft and delicate at peak ripeness, a gentle squeeze of their deep burgundy, purple bronze, or golden brown skin and they burst open revealing a sweet, juicy, beautiful mess of bright pink or amber pulp. Alma is one of the varieties in my garden, inspiring this painting. She has a companion piece, Celeste, shown in the last photo.
